Recently, the professional technical service team of Tianyi GSE visited Shenzhen Airlines to conduct a comprehensive, full-coverage in-depth inspection of its high-capacity electric aviation catering vehicles and electric passenger boarding stairs that have been put into large-scale service. In addition, the team organized a new round of specialized hands-on training for frontline drivers and equipment maintenance crews. Through proactive maintenance and standardized instruction, the initiative aims to comprehensively enhance the operational stability and safety of new-energy ground support equipment.

Shenzhen Airlines had previously procured two core new-energy GSE models from Tianyi GSE in bulk: high-capacity pure-electric aviation catering vehicles and electric passenger boarding stairs. These cover the full range of support scenarios, including remote-stand meal transport and passenger boarding/deplaning for both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft. The high-capacity models are equipped with large-capacity lithium battery systems, offering ultra-long endurance to support continuous operations across multiple flights throughout the day. With zero emissions and low noise, they perfectly align with airport green and low-carbon operational requirements. The electric boarding stairs feature a low center of gravity and strong wind resistance, along with multi-level anti-slip treads and an intelligent anti-collision protection system, ensuring comprehensive passenger safety. They have now become the primary ground support equipment for Shenzhen Airlines.

This on-site service was divided into two major sections: comprehensive equipment inspection and specialized hands-on training.

I. Full-Equipment Deep Inspection to Eliminate Operational Risks

Engineers were divided into teams to conduct item-by-item checks on all electric catering vehicles and electric boarding stairs:

  • High-capacity catering vehicles: Key inspections focused on high-voltage battery packs, the Battery Management System (BMS), hydraulic scissor lifts, insulated refrigeration units, and aircraft-docking anti-collision safety devices. Charging parameters were calibrated, and wiring aging and seal leakage were inspected and addressed.

  • Electric boarding stairs: Inspections covered travel drives, lifting platforms, anti-slip treads, parking supports, and audible/visual alarm systems. Door-engagement limit switches were adjusted, and all structural fasteners were tightened.

Minor faults were corrected on-site, and dedicated equipment maintenance files were established, marking replacement cycles for wear parts and scheduled maintenance intervals, thereby preventing equipment downtime at the source.

II. Theory Combined with Hands-On Drills to Strengthen All Operators' Capabilities

The training adopted an on-site vehicle-based teaching approach, with differentiated instruction for the two equipment types:

  • High-capacity electric catering vehicles: High-voltage safety operating procedures, fast/slow charging processes, daily battery care, refrigeration temperature adjustment, standard meal-container loading/unloading procedures, and emergency response to hydraulic faults.

  • Electric boarding stairs: Operating specifications in high-wind conditions, height adjustment for different aircraft types, safety management during passenger boarding/alighting, routine lubrication of lift systems, and emergency shutdown procedures.

Frequent and challenging questions from frontline shifts were addressed on the spot, and group-based practical assessments were conducted to ensure that every operator fully understood equipment performance and strictly adhered to civil aviation ground safety regulations.

The equipment management director of Shenzhen Airlines noted that Tianyi GSE's regular on-site inspection and refresher training mechanism effectively resolves the difficulties of new-energy equipment maintenance, significantly reduces the equipment failure rate, and provides solid support for stable flight operations during peak travel seasons such as summer and Spring Festival travel rushes.
