The first United Nations Global Supply Chain Forum, co-hosted by UNCTAD and the Government of Barbados, brought together more than 600 industry leaders, policymakers and experts from around the world to discuss how to address the challenges and opportunities in global supply chain management. The main body of the forum includes: the opening ceremony, 3 high-level plenary meetings, more than 30 side events, 1 plenary meeting and 1 breakfast meeting.
At present, the Sino-US trade war combined with the impact of the epidemic and the geopolitical conflict brought about by the Russia-Ukraine war interwoven, making the world supply chain system is facing a profound change. The Global Supply Chain Forum held by the United Nations at a critical moment aims to further strengthen the connectivity of economies and ensure the stability of the world economy and trade.

Ren Hongbin, president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said at the forum that with the rapid development of economic globalization, the integration of global supply chains has accelerated, pushing forward the development of the world economy and human society. All countries, including developing countries, are an important part of the global supply chain. All parties should strengthen connectivity and strive to build a global partnership for development. China is a beneficiary of, contributor to, and upholds the integrated development of the global supply chain. It has proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, the global Development Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the global security Initiative. It has continuously promoted high-level opening-up, accelerated the development of new quality productive forces, and continued to inject impetus into the development of the global supply chain.
